What is the MCR?
Much like the JCR, Stephenson College MCR, is a friendly and welcoming community made up of students at Stephenson College. However, unlike the JCR, the MCR is more tailored towards representing and supporting the interests of postgraduates and mature students.
At present our community is vibrant and diverse, containing members from both our research postgrad and taught postgrad communities across a wide variety of faculties and departments.
However, at Stephenson College, the MCR is an integrated part of the JCR, meaning those who join the MCR are able and encouraged to engage with the JCR and participate in their activities and events. We think this is hugely beneficial as it gives our students and members even greater opportunities to enhance their time and experience at Stephenson College and Durham University.
We encourage you to explore the rest of this website for more information on Stephenson College MCR, furthermore, you can find out more at our Instagram page @stephenson.mcr (you can also see some of our posts below!) If youβre interested in joining the MCR, you can find out how to do so here.
LIVING IN COLLEGE
Postgraduates joining us at Stephenson College are welcome and encouraged to consider living on site. There are a variety of perks to doing so. For one, our site is one of the greenest in the university with ample outdoor space and easy access to areas of natural beauty. Additionally, our accommodation is located close to the Science Site and Bill Bryson Library, a short walk down South Road. Furthermore, all postgraduate students currently live together in our Crosby block, which is wonderful for meeting your fellow postgrads and building a community.
You can find out more about our accommodation below.
