Getting Around in Durham

BUS

Park and Ride 2 (Howlands Farm PARK & RIDE - Durham)

The Park and Ride bus stop is a short distance from Wylam. It starts at Stephenson, drives in to town then turns around and comes back! To get to town, catch the PR2 and get a day ticket. A ticket costs £2, but if you show your Student ID card it will be reduced to £1. The Park and Ride bus runs every day except Sunday. The Park and Ride bus runs from 07.00 - 19.00 and comes to College every 15 minutes.

ARRIVIA DAY TICKETS

For the other buses running in Durham you can get the £1 Arriva Day Tickets. For Durham University students, it allows travel on any Arriva bus service with the Durham District Zone all day. You only need to pay once! This means if you're living outside of College but within the Durham District Zone, you can make the most of this service to get to lectures and College.


BIKE

There are bike racks accessible near College, where you can keep your bikes. Bike racks are also located around the Durham University campus.


WALKING

Durham can be easily travelled around via walking. Google Maps is very accurate in Durham. It can direct you to shops in town, to all the Colleges, and the vast majority of academic buildings. From Stephenson it is approximately a 10-15 minute walk to the Science Site and Bill Bryson Library, this is also where all the main lecture halls are located. It is a 25-30 minute walk into town. TAXIS/UBERS

If you are walking back late, or can't bear to face the hill then you can get a taxi. In Durham the majority of people get Ubers. They are plenty of Uber drivers in Durham so you often have to wait less than 5 minutes to be picked up!
