Events at Stephenson

Events are truly the bread and butter of what the JCR does, and are some of the absolute high points of the year! They are a staple of College life and make Stephenson the lively, vibrant and friendly community that it is. We’re putting on more events and activities than ever before, and there is something for everyone, whether you’re interested in socialising in Stephenson Central, enjoying some live music, broadening your horizons, getting creative, or dressing up for a formal dinner, all that and more can be found here!

One great part of being a JCR member is that you receive substantial discounts on event tickets, which over the duration of your membership can add up to substantial savings!

We have pages dedicated to each specific type of event that we host over the course of an academic year, but at a glace here is what we offer:

  • Stevo Day: A large scale celebration of everything Stevo, held after exams and involving plenty of live music, entertainment and quality food and drink.

  • JCR Balls: Two large scale formal occasions, Winter Ball in Michaelmas Term, Summer Ball in Easter Term after Exams. Both are held in beautiful external venues and are a chance to students to dress up and enjoy a classy event!

  • Bar Nights: Held in Stephenson Central these events bring the college together for some exciting evening events, with themes such as Oktoberfest, Christmas and St Patrick’s Day they are great relaxed events.

  • Ideas Talks: As part of Stephenson College’s Connections Program, pre-eminent speakers are invited in to give a talk in college and answer questions from students. We’ve had a considerable number of fascinating speakers so far.

  • Community Dining: A great opportunity for the College community to come together and enjoy some quality food, entertainment and company. Be it at a smart casual Locomotion Dinner, or a fully-fledged Formal.

  • Live Music and Theatre: Utilising our performance space in Platform 2, we regularly host live music from a variety of student bands, and also present some theatre productions from our very own Rocket! Theatre Company.
